We need the government to step up and support, but instead, decision-makers are considering changes that would weaken workers’ power to stand up for good jobs.

This Labour Day, join workers from coast-to-coast pledging to go all in for good jobs and workers’ rights. Together, we can send a clear message: Workers shouldn’t pay for the crisis while big corporations profit.
• Workers’ rights: Respect the right to strike and reject attempts to weaken workers’ bargaining power.
• Good jobs first: Every worker deserves a secure job with decent pay and the right to form a union.
• No bad deals: Trade deals should not come at the expense of workers or communities. No deal is better than a bad deal.
• Build Canada with union labour: Nation-building projects must create good union jobs and get off the ground.
• Stronger local industries: Governments should work with workers and industry to strengthen local economies and build more of what we need here in Canada.
• Public investments that deliver: Public funding should guarantee good union jobs, require strong labour standards, and protect human and environmental rights.
• Strong public services: Invest in our health care, child care, education, and public services that families rely on.
• A seat at the table: Allow workers and unions to shape the trade decisions that affect our jobs and communities.
• Accountability: Trade deals should be public and voted on in Parliament.
